Thom Yorke Builds A Perfectly Eerie Theme In 'Suspirium'

Suspiria is one of the most anticipated upcoming horror films of the year, and Thom Yorke's soundtrack is turning heads, as well. Yorke has shared a track from his upcoming soundtrack for the film, and it's all you'd hope for. Thom Yorke builds a perfectly eerie theme in 'Suspirium,' the main track from Yorke's soundtrack from Suspiria.

Suspiria draws upon ballet, and Yorke plays toward that in this new song. Based primarily on a piano part, the very rhythm of the track coinciding with a very waltz-esque vibe (the 3/4 time signature also supports that). The majority of the track is just Yorke and the piano, his voice eerily chanting lines including "All is well, as long as we keep spinning / Here and now, dancing behind a wall" and "Is the darkness ours to take? / Bathed in lightness, bathed in heat." While background synths help craft the atmosphere subtly throughout the song, it's only at the last minute of the track here they really rise and become more prevalent, building an even more enchanting and perhaps just a bit unsettling, unfamiliar vibe, which perfectly compliments the film.

Thom Yorke builds a perfectly eerie theme in 'Suspirium,' the main track for what is bound to be a powerful soundtrack for one of the most anticipated films of the year. Yorke's eerie, ghastly voice and lyrics are the perfect compliment to what this film will bring. The rest of the soundtrack will surely be just as beautiful.
