Lukas Graham Dig Deep In "3 (The Purple Album)"

Lukas Graham were one of pop’s biggest names a few years back when ‘7 Years‘ hit radio, but they’ve been relatively quiet since then. Now, they’re back with a vengeance. Lukas Graham dig deep in 3 (The Purple Album), continuing forward with some powerful and personal music.

The best part about Lukas Graham is that they never stray from honesty. Opening track ‘Not A Damn Thing Changed‘ illustrates that perfectly, the big and emotional track bringing the album to a powerful start. The anthemic and sweeter ‘Lullaby‘ follows up, bringing with it a nicer vibe that’s a bit less emotionally daunting. ‘You’re Not The Only One (Redemption Song)‘ is even sweeter, with a more uplifting attitude than the previous tracks. Lukas Graham constantly switches between some pretty heavily emotional strife and sweeter, more heartfelt tracks throughout the album.

If there’s one thing to take away from 3 (The Purple Album), it’s that there are real people behind the music. The messages inlaid within each track digs deep into the minds and hearts of the band, and the way they represent them through the music makes them feel even more real. ‘Love Someone‘ feels so deeply in love with its chill vibe, and the dramatic ‘Stick Around‘ adds some drama into the mix. The album ends with a very introspective run, starting with the reflective ‘Everything That Isn’t Me,’ where vocalist Lukas Forchhammer expresses his want to be better. ‘Hold My Hand‘ follows up with a much more spiritual vibe, a gospel choir adding a big mood to the track. ‘Say Yes (Church Ballad)‘ brings the record to a sweet end, taking things out with a nice churchy vibe.

Lukas Graham dig deep in 3 (The Purple Album), showing their real colors and personalities. It’s a deeply personal record, but as emotional as it is, it expresses a desire to move forward and be better, which is something we should all strive for.
