Alpha Male Tea Party Explodes With Character On "Health"

The hardest part of making instrumental music is making sure your voice as a musician can still be heard throughout each track. That's exactly what Alpha Male Tea Party manages to do in their new album, combining many different moods and tones to make a unique album. Alpha Male Tea Party explodes with character on Health.

At first glance, you may think Health is just another instrumental djent album with the occasional run that escapes the first and open frets of the lower strings. The quiet intro of 'Have You Ever Seen Milk' does lead into some big djenty vibes, but something about it is different from the rest. The delivery of the riffs comes off as something with more of a positive and almost child-like in demeanor. That same playful nature is heard clearly in 'Nobody Had The Heart To Tell Him He Was On Fire,' something about its sound giving it an almost pop punk feel.

There are moments where things get wild and evil as you'd expect from a djent or progressive metal sound. 'Ballerina,' for example, explodes with rampant energy from start to finish. 'The Museum Of Walking' follows through with a similarly evil yet more curious vibe. The band close off their record much like it began, the faraway distorted intro of 'No More' acting as a calm before the storm, the track exploding with energy by its end, with surprise vocals coming on to close the record on a confident note.

Alpha Male Tea Party explodes with character on Health, giving a (mostly) voiceless album a clear personality through the powerful riffs and tones the songs deliver. While it may have its similarities, Health is not your run-of-the-mill djent album. It has life.
