Baz Francis Brings A Classic Sound To "Face That Launched A Thousand Shipwrecks"
/There's always room for a bit of a vintage tone in life. You can get a fresh taste of that in Baz Francis' new record. The Magic Eight Ball vocalist brings in a lot of different yet familiar sounds that'll surely get you moving. Baz Francis brings a classic sound to Face That Launched A Thousand Shipwrecks that feels really fresh.
The main focus of Face That Launched A Thousand Shipwrecks is its vibe. You get a little of everything on the record, from soft acoustic rock to some thrilling alternative rock. It's brought in on a fun note with 'It's Hard Here (On Planet Earth),' its cheerful and uplifting vibe giving it a sort of David Bowie vibe. That same influence is heard quite a bit throughout the record, but he also brings in some other vibes. The softer side of Foo Fighters is channeled in 'Saving Graces,' while a bit more rock n' roll action is offered up at the end of 'Revenge Of The Animal Kingdom' with its darker atmosphere and big ending.
There's a pretty solid blend of slowness and energy on this album. It features some really pretty acoustic moments like in 'Murder Dancing,' while the rock energy definitely shines through on others like 'That's My Problem No More.' It has a little something for everyone on it, whether you're a slow rocker or the type that enjoys the riffs. The album does have a generally positive sound, though (the only notably dark moment is 'Revenge Of The Animal Kingdom'), so you won't be getting too heavy in terms of darkness.
Baz Francis brings a classic sound to Face That Launched A Thousand Shipwrecks and it comes off pretty cleanly. There aren't many moments that really stray from a safe point, but that doesn't seem to have a negative effect on any of the tracks (though it prevents some from having bigger moments). It's a great, calmer rock record to kick back to and jam to.
