Bebe Rexha Sounds Huge In Debut Album "All Your Fault: Pt. 1"

Mainstream pop has a lot of up and coming artists just waiting to make it big. Bebe Rexha has been on the scene for awhile, and her potential is fully realized in her debut album All Your Fault: Pt. 1.

The first rule of pop: be catchy. Rexha has a very good handle of making some big songs that retain their catchiness to a point that's not annoying, which can be a problem for songs. Rather than having a song stuck in your head annoyingly for ages, you'd be affectionately humming the melodies from this record. The album's big single 'I Got You' is a fantastic pop tune, big synths roaring with strong percussion driving it. Rexha's croons are backed by a bassy vocoder and big synth chords. The melody during the chorus is both pleasing, memorable, and demanding of attention. The bridge of the track makes it even bigger, Rexha's huge vocals ringing above the lowkey instrumental.

There is some variation on the record, luckily. The following track 'Small Doses' works in pretty much the same way as 'I Got You,' maintaining catchiness and full of sweet energy. It has a sweeter vibe than the previous track, but it does have many of the same principles. Opening track 'Atmosphere' has some cool synths backing it, though it does serve as a pretty average song. 'Gateway Drug' is another energetic track, Rexha's melodies dark (despite the pleading lyrics) and the synths big and demanding.

The two features on the record don't really add much to it, sadly. G-Eazy actually manages to bring the track he's featured in down. The track, 'F.F.F. (Fuck Fake Friends)' already wasn't sounding like an impressive song on the record, and G-Eazy's verse just doesn't make the song' s sound any better. It's pretty much another version of 'I Got You' with a lesser message to it. Ty Dolla $ign doesn't being closing track 'Bad Bitch' down, but his contribution is pretty indifferent to track. It just doesn't add to it in any way.

Bebe Rexha has a really great sound to her music. It's mainstream pop with a dark and moody texture to it. Sure, it may not stand out a lot from other artists in tone, but in delivery, Rexha really has some promise. This album may only have six songs, but that just means she must have a lot more coming soon.
