21 Savage, Metro Boomin, and Offset Drop Surprise Album "Without Warning"

21 SavageMetro Boomin, and Offset have dropped a surprise album called Without Warning this Halloween night! The trio have kept this project under wraps and it's been a very interesting drop, though it's not exactly the most riveting, which was perhaps to be expected.

For what it's worth, Without Warning starts off with promise. 'Ghostface Killers' brings the record in, Travis Scott providing some extra hype to the track. The flows trade off nicely atop the dark, moody beat. It's not really the theme of the album, but the darkish nature of the beats do give it that nice Halloween-y edge. 'Ghostface Killers' is essentially a trapping trick-or-treaters anthem. Beyond this song, however, few things really stand out. 'Nightmare' has some solid delivery to it, and the beats are generally pretty consistent throughout.

As with any trap record, however, things fall a bit flat. 'Rap Saved Me' with Offset's Migos partner Quavo immediately drags the record down, with some truly dead flow right in the core of the song. 'Ric Flair Drip' follows up with nothing really to it, just sitting as an average song in an album that just fell into a depression. Nothing noteworthy can really be said about many of the songs; on one hand, it's not an inherently bad record, as there aren't many songs that have horrible things going on with them; but on the other, there's nothing that brings it up. Whatever does happen tends to drag the album down, such as the utterly dead 'Run Up The Racks' which sees 21 Savage saying "gang" a couple dozen times.

21 Savage, Metro Boomin, and Offset's surprise album Without Warning may have a dark edge for your Halloween night, but it doesn't do much to really set a place for itself. It may have that iconic lineup on it giving it starpower, but beyond that there's not much going for it. There's no hype and now energy. Just a level of over-comfort that too many trap rappers have fallen into.
