Linkin Park Shares Heartbreaking Message After One Year Of Chester Bennington's Passing

It's been exactly one year since the world learned of Chester Bennington's tragic passing. To this day, fans and musicians alike still mourn and miss the iconic, legendary singer, and it's especially felt by his bandmates. On this sad anniversary, Linkin Park has shared a heartbreaking message to Chester.

The band posted early on the morning of July 20th a message on their social media, written by the band's surviving members, Mike ShinodaDave "Phoenix" FarrellBrad DelsonJoe Hahn, and Rob Bourdon

To our brother Chester,

It has been a year since your passing—a surreal rotation of grief, heartbreak, refusal, and recognition. And yet it sill feels like you are close by, surrounding us with your memory and your light. Your one-of-a-kind spirit has authored an indelible imprint on our hearts—our jokes, our joy, and our tenderness.

Eternally grateful for the love, life, and creative passion you shared with us and the world. We miss you more than words can express.

Love,

M, J, D, R, B

Linkin Park has been largely inactive since Chester's passing, save for their powerful live tribute concert held in celebration of his life in October last year. The band also shared One More Light Live in December, featuring live performance from the band's European Tour that took place last summer, which includes some of band's biggest hits and new songs from their last album, 2017's One More Light. Phoenix has started his own podcast since then, while Shinoda and Hahn are both touring; Shinoda for his newly launched solo career and debut record Post Traumatic, and Hahn as a DJ for various shows around Asia. Shinoda has expressed that he has every intention of continuing with Linkin Park in the future, but -understandably - has not been able to give a specific timeframe as to when that'll happen.

Fans have actively and passionately been making sure Chester's life and legacy are celebrated every day, using the hashtag #MakeChesterProud and continuing to spread kindness and love throughout the community and into the world. How do you continue to #MakeChesterProud? Let us know.
