Soundgarden's Chris Cornell Dead at 52

In a tragic twist of fate, grunge legend Chris Cornell has passed away. He was 52.

Chris Cornell rose to grunge and rock fame through his fruitful career. Soundgarden was formed in Seattle in 1984, signing to Sub Pop and releasing their debut album Ultramega OK in 1988. The band went on to be hugely successful with records like Badmotorfinger and Superunknown. Once they broke up 1997, Cornell went on to form Audioslave with Rage Against The Machine's Tom MorelloTim Commerford, and Brad Wilk. Chris Cornell also had a solo career, which he focused on post-Audioslave in 2008 and so forth.

The exact cause of death is unknown, but police reported that their preliminary determination was suicide based on the conditions of the hotel room they found him in. Soundgarden has been on a North American Tour since April, and played what would be their final show last night in Detroit's Fox Theater. The band were set to headline Columbus, Ohio's Rock On The Range festival tomorrow. Cornell stayed true to his art right to the very end; check out what would be his final performance ever as Soundgarden closed their show with 'Slaves and Bulldozers.'

Rest in peace, Chris Cornell. Music lost an incredible voice today. Our condolences and thoughts are with this friends, family, and those affected by his passing. Let us know what you're favorite memories of him are.
